Barb Edson serves a dual role at Optum of Chief Marketing Officer for OptumInsight and head of Cross Optum Segment Marketing and Strategic Market Intelligence. Optum is a leading information and technology-enabled health services business dedicated to helping make the health system work better for everyone. With approximately 80,000 people worldwide, Optum delivers intelligent, integrated solutions that help to modernize the health system and improve overall population health. Optum is part of UnitedHealth Group.

Prior to joining Optum, Edson served in several senior leadership roles at Microsoft from 2005 to 2016, most recently as the Partner, General Manager of Industry Solutions and Business Applications. Before joining Microsoft, she spent more than 15 years in leadership positions in marketing and product strategy within the technology industry including Oracle and Great Plains Software.

Edson completed the two year Microsoft Executive Leadership Program, including courses from Kellogg and Wharton, and earned her BA from North Dakota State University.
