Diane P. Holder brings over 30 years of clinical and health insurance expertise to her role leading the health insurance enterprise of UPMC.  As one of the largest Integrated Delivery and Financing Systems, UPMC’s portfolio of products and services includes 40 hospitals, more than 5,000 employed physicians, extensive in home and community-based services, international cancer centers, and a large portfolio of health insurance companies. As Executive Vice President of UPMC, President and CEO of the Insurance Division, Ms. Holder provides the strategic leadership and operational direction for a family of health insurance and benefits management companies today serving 3.5 million members. The health insurance companies are recognized nationally for exceptional quality and service.   

As one of the nation’s leading centers for academic and clinical innovation, in partnership with the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and Schools of the Health Sciences, UPMC is changing the paradigm for how clinical care is delivered and financed, improving clinical outcomes for patients and strengthening affordable high quality insurance coverage for the communities it serves.  A recipient of numerous PCORI awards, the health plans of UPMC have been recognized for innovative programs serving vulnerable populations. 

Ms. Holder received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and graduate degree from Columbia University. She is a faculty member of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and an adjunct faculty of the Graduate School of Public Health. She serves on numerous boards including the Alliance of Community Health Plans, The Insurance Federation of Pennsylvania, Evolent Health and several others. Ms. Holder has been recognized for her community leadership, advocacy for women and children, and support for those suffering from mental health and addiction problems.  She is a frequent speaker on the subject of health and productivity and the role of the community in addressing health outcomes.
