Teresa (Terri) Kline became President and Chief Executive Officer of Health Alliance Plan (HAP) and Executive Vice President of Henry Ford Health System in November 2016. Her executive leadership career in health care spans 30 years, with a blend of payer and provider experience in insurance, managed care, consulting, physician practice management, health care information technology, financial performance and clinical network management. She has a deep knowledge of health care market dynamics and regulations, which she has used to balance the needs of patients, providers, employers and payers throughout her career. Prior to joining HAP, Kline led her own firm in Atlanta, providing strategic consulting, due diligence and interim management services. Before that, she was Senior Vice President and Chief Health Care Management Officer of Health Care Service Corporation, the fourth-largest U.S. health insurer with 14 million members. In this role, Kline led the health care management functions of network, quality, medical and pharmacy management, as well as health information technology. She also provided strategic and operations oversight for Blue Cross Blue Shield plans in five states and four subsidiaries. During her career, she has served as CEO of CHA Health, CEO of United Healthcare of Georgia, Senior Vice President of HealthSouth and Senior Vice President of OnCare and as Regional Vice President of Aetna Health Plans. At Aetna, she managed 25 percent of its group health business, which included 3.4 million members. Kline serves on the boards of Intersect ENT (NASDAQ: XENT), LaunchPoint Corporation, SaVida and Presbyterian Health Plan. She previously led the boards of Availity and RealMed, Medecision and Innovista Health Solutions. Her professional memberships include the National Association of Corporate Directors, Women Corporate Directors and Women Business Leaders Foundation. A native of Michigan, she received her master’s degree in public health from the University of Michigan and her bachelor’s degree in biology from Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
