Tim Wentworth is President and Chief Executive Officer of Express Scripts, one of the world’s largest health care companies. As a Global Fortune 100 company, Express Scripts’ pharmacy benefit management expertise and related services align with payers of all sizes to deliver patient-centered care to 83 million people, including working families, seniors, the disabled, and complex patient populations.
Mr. Wentworth oversees a diverse set of assets at Express Scripts, including its core pharmacy benefit management operations, a $30 billion e-commerce home delivery pharmacy, the high-touch Accredo specialty pharmacy, and numerous subsidiaries. With nearly 3,000 clients, Express Scripts manages about 1.4 billion prescriptions annually,employs more than 26,000 dedicated team members, and generates over $100 billion in revenues.
in 2014 Mr. Wentworth was appointed President of Express Scripts, elected to the Board of Directors in 2015, and subsequently named Chief Executive Officer in 2016. With more than three decades in health care and human resources management, Mr. Wentworth believes that delivering a transformative health care experience for clients and patients rests on creating a culture of risk-taking, collaboration, exemplary customer service, and growth.
Prior to taking the helm of Express Scripts, Mr. Wentworth held a succession of leadership positions over 15 years in the PBM industry. These roles included running sales & account management at Express Scripts and Leading employer and key account sales at Medco Health Solutions. As part of his work at Medco, Mr. Wentworth led a rapid and successful integration of Accredo specialty pharmacy into the broader enterprise. He has a deep understanding of specialty pharmacy and patients’s complex needs in this costly and rapidly growing benefit.
Before joining Medco, Mr. Wentworth spent five years at Mary Kay, Inc., where he served initially as senior vice president of Human Resources and subsequently as president, International. He also spent nine years in human resources management at Pepsi Co.
Mr. Wentworth is regularly sought after for his perspective on health care and has appeared on CNBC, Fox Business Network, CBS Morning News, and Bloomberg TV. His commentary has been featured in Forbes. He has been a featured speaker at numerous events, including Harvard University, the Health Evolution Summit, the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association’s Annual Meeting and the Best 100 Companies Symposium.
He also contributes to his communities as a Trustee of the University of Rochester (NY), serving on the Executive, Health Strategy and Personal Committees; and as a member of the American Heart Association CEO Roundtable. Mr. Wentworth is also a member of Civic Progress, a nonprofit organization of local business leaders seeking to improve the St. Louis region.
As a native New Yorker, Mr. Wentworth proudly received his associate’s degree from Monroe Community College in his home town of Rochester. He holds a bachelor’s of science degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University. He and his wife, Robin, reside in Clayton, Missouri and have three adult children.
