Dr. Ellen (Ellie) Stang is a board-certified pediatrician and in 2003, founded ProgenyHealth® to address the need for improved care management and health outcomes for premature and medically complex newborns. Today, ProgenyHealth works with thousands of NICUs in all fifty states and is a recognized leader in deploying evidence-based neonatal care management services.

Prior to founding ProgenyHealth, Dr. Stang spent her career dedicated to the pursuit of providing high quality health care to pediatric patients. Her career has spanned working in private practice where she was Co-Director of the newborn nursery, to working as a regional pediatric medical director for a managed Medicaid health plan. She received her undergraduate BS degree from Dickinson College and her MD from The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia.

Dr. Stang has received many awards and recognitions for her work, and most recently received the 2017 March of Dimes Roosevelt Award for Humanity. She was also selected as a 2015 Brava Award winner as a leading female CEO. In 2014, she also was a finalist for the Philadelphia Business Journal Innovation awards for Health Care CEO of the year. She was honored in 2013 as the Gold Winner for Female Entrepreneur of the Year at the 10th Annual International Stevie Awards for Women in Business in New York City. In 2012, Dr. Stang was recognized as one of Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneurial Winning Women. She is also the past-President, and currently a board member, of the Alliance of Women Entrepreneurs in Philadelphia, and is also a member of the Board of Trustees at Gwynedd Mercy University.

She is frequently featured in the healthcare media discussing topics related to innovation and NICU population health management.
