Tina Freese Decker

Tina Freese Decker is President & CEO of Corewell Health™, a leading integrated health system that strives to provide health care and health insurance coverage to millions of people. She leads more than 60,000 team members who are passionate about the relentless pursuit of better health. The system’s integrated model of care and coverage provides a robust network serving urban, suburban and rural markets. Corewell Health is comprised of 21 hospitals, 300+ outpatient locations and several post-acute facilities, as well as Priority Health, the third-largest provider-sponsored health plan in the country with over one million members.
Tina is driven by a vision of a future where health is simple, affordable, equitable and exceptional. Corewell Health has received numerous local and national recognitions under her leadership. In 2024-2025, Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital was named #1 Hospital in Michigan by U.S. News & World Report, Priority Health was recognized as the best Medicaid plan in the state and Corewell Health had the most Magnet designation hospitals in the state.
Tina is determined to tackle the health field’s greatest challenges. She is passionate about building culture and developing people to achieve their fullest potential. Tina inspires through innovation and collaboration to make health better for all.
Background
Tina’s career journey started in the admitting department of a community hospital in Iowa, continued with an administrative fellowship at Spectrum Health in 2002, and went on to include a variety of roles at Spectrum Health, including president of the system hospital group, chief strategy officer and chief operating officer. She was named President & CEO of Spectrum Health in 2018. Today, she continues to drive significant, transformational change as President & CEO of Corewell Health.
Education
Tina earned a Bachelor of Science in finance from Iowa State University and graduated with a Master of Health Administration and Master of Industrial Engineering from the University of Iowa.
Affiliations and Awards
Tina influences and shapes health policy, engages in advocacy and builds strong relationships with decision makers across Michigan and beyond. She is the 2025 Chair for the American Hospital Association Board of Trustees. She also is a board member of the Scottsdale Institute, Healthcare Institute, Business Leaders for Michigan, Detroit Economic Club, Detroit Regional Partnership, Detroit Regional Chamber and Gerald R. Ford Foundation; current board member and past board chair of The Right Place and The Economic Club of Grand Rapids.
Her leadership and impact on health care and the community has received many recognitions, including Modern Healthcare’s 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare and Top 25 Women Leaders in Healthcare, Beckers Great Leaders in Healthcare and CEO Influencers to Know, DBusiness Powered by Women honoree, The Economic Club of Grand Rapids’ Business Person of the Year and Crain’s Detroit Business’ Top Newsmakers of the Year.
