Paul Kusserow is the Chairman of the Board for Amedisys, after serving for more than 7 years as President and Chief Executive Officer. Under his leadership, the company grew its value 9x itself; led the industry in Home Health quality achieving a Quality of Patient Care Star score of 4.33 stars with 95% of all care centers at 4 stars or above; and became the second largest home health and third largest hospice provider in the United States.
Prior to Amedisys, Kusserow, a healthcare industry veteran with deep expertise in driving growth strategies, served as President and Vice Chairman of Alignment Healthcare, Inc., an integrated clinical care company focused on providing care to the Medicaid population. Prior to that, he served as Senior Vice President, Chief Strategy, Innovations and Corporate Development Officer of Humana, Inc., a Fortune 75 healthcare services and benefits company.
Kusserow’s experience also includes time as Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer of the Ziegler HealthVest Fund; Managing Director of San Ysidro Capital Partners, L.L.C.; and Managing Partner of Roaring Mountain, L.L.C. He began his healthcare career with Tenet Healthcare Corporation, one of the nation’s largest investor-owned healthcare service companies, where he spent seven years, the last four as Senior Vice President, Strategy and Ventures. Kusserow began his career as a management consultant with McKinsey and Company, Inc.
Kusserow serves on the boards of Oak Street Health (NYSE: OSH), Matrix Medical Network, PurFoods, HealthPilot and the Nashville Health Care Council. Kusserow received his Bachelor of Arts from Wesleyan University, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and his Master of Arts from Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar.
